CobbWorks, Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that oversees WorkSource Cobb program services, announced today that its Board of Directors has appointed Sonya Grant as Chief Executive Officer effective May 22, 2019. The position will also serve as the Executive Director of WorkSource Cobb. Grant will replace John Helton who resigned from the position to assume the role of Executive Director of Atlanta CareerRise, a regional workforce intermediary and funder collaborative.
"I am delighted to welcome Ms. Grant as our new CEO," said Mark Gibson, CobbWorks Board Chair. "She brings over 17 years of non-profit experience including a background in workforce development which will be a huge asset to the organization."
Prior to her appointment, Ms. Grant served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Southeast Michigan Community Alliance (SEMCA), a leader in workforce development programs in Michigan, since 2015. She holds B.A. degree from University of Michigan-Dearborn and a master's degree in social work (MSW) from Wayne State University.
Ms. Grant was identified through a national search led by the executive committee. The top candidates went through a three phase interview process before the final selection was made. A number of qualified candidates were evaluated and the top finalists underwent an extensive selection process.
"I am deeply honored and excited to join the WorkSource Cobb team," said Sonya Grant.
