CobbWorks Seeks New CEO

CobbWorks, Inc., a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that oversees WorkSource Cobb program services, recently announced that President and CEO John Helton has resigned his position. Helton will continue to lead the organization and assist the board with the transition through the end of May 2019 when he will assume the role of Executive Director of Atlanta CareerRise, a regional workforce intermediary and funder collaborative.

Mark Gibson, CobbWorks Board Chair, stated, “The Executive Committee has activated its comprehensive succession and contingency plan and it is our goal to identify and onboard a new CEO in the coming months.  Should there be a gap between John’s departure and the start date of the new CEO, we will activate our interim management plan, which is included within the broader succession and contingency plan.”

“I am incredibly grateful to John for the energy, vision, and heart that he dedicated to this organization and the impact he brought to our community through his leadership”, shared Mr. Gibson. “I wish him the absolute best in his new journey with Atlanta CareerRise.”

Mr. Helton has been the president and CEO since the organization was founded in 2000. During his tenure, he played a critical role in leading the organization, along with providing significant leadership in workforce development at the local and national levels, including his current role as the President of the Southeastern Employment & Training Association (SETA). “The opportunity to lead and grow this organization as a resource for the Cobb community has been a gift,” said Helton. “I’m incredibly proud of what our team has accomplished and for the value CobbWorks will continue to bring to people looking to do better for themselves and their families.”
