The New Cobb Workforce Center Groundbreaking



Thursday, January 18th, CobbWorks, celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Cobb Work Source Center in Mableton with more than 50 people in attendance. With a $4M+ investment CobbWorks will renovate the Old Mableton Fire Station I transforming it into CobbWorks second workforce development center in Cobb County. The building is slated to open in the summer of 2024. The 10,000-square-foot facility will operate as a full-service workforce development center and co-working space, providing job seekers and businesses with a wealth of free resources and services. This includes access to a computer lab and Wi-Fi, job search assistance, professional development workshops, literacy services, employment placement, and funding support for skills training. These resources will be instrumental in helping individuals secure employment and advance in their careers. The center's impact will not be limited to individuals. It will also play a vital role in revitalizing the business sector. The center will offer business coaching, incubation, a full-service business services team, and a full range of resources to help entrepreneurs and small businesses overcome obstacles and enhance their capabilities. The ground-breaking was attended by a mix of community members, government officials, local business associations, Cobb County leadership and local businesses. Among the multitude of special guests were Cobb Chairwoman Lisa Cupid, Mableton Mayor Pro Tem Keisha Jeffcoat, and District 4 Commissioner Monique Sheffield; each spoke about the importance and impact of having a workforce development center in this part of the county. CobbWorks extends special thanks to all partners and donors.
