PowerUp! Pre-Apprenticeship Program
Launched in 2020, the PowerUp Pre-Apprenticeship Program is an innovative and transformative workforce initiative designed to reduce employment barriers for individuals and communities that have been historically underserved. PowerUp is a cohort-based, earn-and-learn training model that equips participants with in-demand skills, industry-recognized credentials, supportive services, and direct career opportunities across high-growth sectors such as healthcare, technology, logistics, skilled trades, and manufacturing. This approach prepares individuals for hands-on, on-the-job training and long-term career success.
By leveraging and braiding multiple funding sources, the PowerUp Program expands access to opportunity while prioritizing services to justice-involved individuals, adults, and opportunity youth. The program operates not only as a training initiative but as a clear career pathway into self-sustaining employment.
Through the integration of skills training, certifications, and comprehensive wraparound support, PowerUp empowers participants while strengthening the local workforce ecosystem. Strategic partnerships with organizations such as the Cobb County Fire Department, the Plumbing Heating and Cooling Contractors Association, United Way’s CareerReady ATL, Lockheed Martin, and Chattahoochee Technical College further amplifies the program’s reach and impact while driving expanded economic mobility for underserved populations.
